Clichy/Essen, February 20 2025

RWE launches the first call for projects under its community fund in the Normandy and Hauts-de-France regions. Through this initiative, RWE seeks to strengthen the connection between renewable energy production and local communities. Financed by the output of RWE’s wind farms in Catillon-Fumechon (Oise), Ronchois (Seine-Maritime), and Troisvilles-Reumont (Nord), the fund is endowed with €120,000 for its inaugural year and aims to support projects serving the public interest. All non-profit organizations across both regions, including associations and foundations, are eligible to apply, with the exception of local authorities.

Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia: "RWE is rolling out its community fund to support the regions that host our wind farms and their communities. This fund extends the impact of our actions by delivering tangible benefits that contribute to local solidarity initiatives. Local and shared—that is how we envision the energy transition."

Supporting the regions hosting renewable energy projects

All initiatives aimed at heritage preservation, biodiversity conservation, and the energy transition are eligible. These categories encompass a wide range of initiatives, from promoting local traditions and restoring cultural or religious sites to acquiring protected land, reducing waste, and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Projects will be assessed by RWE based on their alignment with the community fund's core themes, the quality and clarity of the proposal, its feasibility, and its compliance with the fund’s ethical framework. The fund’s selection committee will also apply a geographic criterion, giving priority to projects that benefit the areas where RWE’s operational renewable energy parks are located. Applicants have until June 1, 2025, to submit their projects.

RWE: a mission-driven company

With its ;community fund, RWE is reaffirming its commitment to value sharing, complementing other local initiatives such as local electricity offers and crowdfunding campaigns.
