In a compelling conversation, Debby Blay, Talent Acquisition Coordinator at RWE Offshore, reveals how she utilizes her strengths and experiences to support others and champion diversity. As a role model part of the Power Looks Good On You initiative within #TeamRWE, Debby shares her insights on empowerment and offers advice for women in the renewables sector to embrace their power.
Debby, what does Power mean to you?
To me, power means owning my voice, making impactful decisions, and supporting others to succeed.
What is your biggest superpower?
My biggest superpower at work is collaborating effectively and being a go-to person. Being empathetic, bold, and likeable. Sometimes I feel like I’m self-made, and I do tell people that. I’ve been through many challenges, and the way I’ve overcome them gives me strength and empathy.
When do you feel most powerful?
I feel most powerful when I support others to be able to achieve what they're doing, but also when I'm able to stay true to my values.
Why did you become part of the Power Looks Good On You Initiative?
There are so many things we’re doing around DEI&B, we just need to talk about them more. RWE is employing people of colour and making them feel welcome; I want to project that to the outside world.
What advice would you give to other women in renewables?
My advice to other women in renewables is owning their power and also staying true to the impactful decisions they make. Take a bold step. Feel the fear, do it anyway because you're doing a great job.
