Monica, what does Power mean to you?
To me, power means something coming from within. It's from my heart, it's from my soul. Power means believing in myself.
What is your biggest superpower?
My biggest superpowers are resilience and adaptability.
How do you own your power at work and when do you feel most powerful?
I own my power by embracing my inner strength, values, and my authentic self in every aspect of my professional journey. To me, that lies at the two levels. One, my family has always been my cornerstone in my professional and personal journey. So having the support from my husband and being seen as a role model of my two young girls fills me with strength and a strong sense of purpose. And the second, I feel most powerful when I'm in the environment that values authenticity.
Why did you become part of the Power Looks Good On You Initiative?
I took part to share my stories and the journey that I've been on in this renewable energy industry. As a young female engineer, I had to work extremely hard to demonstrate that I deserve the same respect and treatment as everybody else. I want young women facing challenges to know that we have weathered similar experiences. And I want to share my personal journey to inspire and guide them.
What advice would you give to other women in renewables?
My advices to other women in renewables are: believe in yourself, be authentic and never underestimate your potentials in making a significant impact in the renewable energy industry.
