In this part of our series we go to Heligoland. There we meet Kai, who sails the high seas as part of his work at RWE Renewables Europe & Australia GmbH.
Kai supports the Offshore team since 2015 and has already worked in several departments. He is currently responsible for the Balance of Plant (BOP) at the Nordsee-Ost wind farm as an offshore technician. BOP encompasses all infrastructure enabling a wind farm to generate electricity, with the exception of the turbines themselves.
As a plant engineer for a wind farm in the middle of the North Sea, his work is definitely not an easy job! His working day is exciting, every day is different and very much dependent on the wind and weather conditions. That's what he likes best about his job: "Every day something new happens and the team spirit is also great.”
Team work is important for him. Because his tasks require a high degree of team spirit and trust: "I have to be able to rely one hundred per cent on my colleagues in every situation. So Kai experiences first-hand what makes #TEAMRWE stand out and how the RWE values of trust, passion and performance are brought to life. So teamwork is not only his top priority, but also the key to the motivated and dedicated approach to his work. Of course, this is particularly important on days on which the conditions at sea are hazardous.
