Using the CO2 filling machine, the CO2 captured from the flue gas in the pilot CO2 scrubbing plant can be stored in a tank that can hold 18 tonnes of CO2 or filled into gas bottles. In this way the CO2 can be made available for developing technologies that use CO2 as a raw material, e.g. to manufacture fuels and base chemicals, or for energy storage.
In a collaborative project the Jülich Research Centre has used CO2 obtained in this way for plant research.
