Our Supply & Trading business is leading in European energy-trading. We are one of the major players on the global gas-trading market. With many years of experience and a sharp eye for market developments and trends, we’ve been representing the RWE Group on the global wholesale markets for energy and energy-related raw materials and services for more than two decades.

Leading the way in Supply & Trading

Our teams are the interface between RWE and global energy markets. In Essen, we’re active in one of the largest trading floors in the world, but also in major cities like London and New York and in key growth markets.

  • As part of this business area, you’ll interface with global energy and commodity markets around the world – working with physical and financial transactions and helping impact new markets in Trading & Origination. With our Commercial Asset Optimisation, opportunities to manage generation positions, sales activities and analysis help us stay ahead of the game. Whether you’re a Trader, a Business and Asset Developer, or a Meteorologist tracking weather patterns and energy needs across regions – your expertise will allow us to sharpen our focus and make moves for tomorrow’s markets.

    From Essen to New York – opportunities for traders at RWE

  • Our Back Office roles are crucial – and responsible for processing concluded deals from the trading desks and bringing your keen eye for quality control within the trade lifecycle across Front and Back Office, Risk, Finance, Accounting and Legal.

    Being so close to Trading in the Front Office, you’ll have the opportunity to build out in-depth knowledge of the energy industry and take on communication responsibilities with grid operators, banks, counterparties, and more.

  • As a Risk Analyst, you’ll determine appropriate risk governance and controls as well as the associated risk and performance transparency for our trading activities.

    Working across various locations, these roles also provide key analysis for market risks, operational risks and credit risk controlling. Helping us find the safest path to make our energy decisions will bring us closer and closer to our goals – transitioning the world to more sustainable energy options.

  • At RWE, we trade almost 900 terawatt hours of electricity, more than 450 billion cubic meters of gas and around 900 million CO2 certificates annually. This makes us one of the largest energy traders in Europe – and we owe this primarily to our IT teams. As part of Trading IT, you’ll be the interface between energy trading and the rest of our business. To help us shape the market processes of tomorrow, you’ll get to learn and manage technologies including artificial and business intelligences and data warehouses.
