Life pulsates in football stadiums. It is therefore all the more important that a stadium’s power supply is secure so that fans and officials have an unforgettable experience – and that it is as sustainable and climate-friendly as possible.
To achieve this, RWE and Borussia Dortmund (BVB) have agreed to engage in a long-term partnership with RWE to become a “Premium & Sustainability Partner” of the renowned football club. As part of the joint project, the photovoltaic system on the roof of Borussia Dortmund’s SIGNAL IDUNA PARK stadium will be modernised and expanded. The new photovoltaic system on the stadium roof will be the largest system of its kind in Germany and will be able to generate four times more renewable energy than the previous system.
To ensure a sustainable power supply even on days with little sunshine, a battery storage unit is also linked to the system.
Further energy projects are being planned as part of this partnership.
