Are you an engineer of the future?

Then apply to join the Power Academy and let us help you on your way!

RWE Generation UK offers undergraduates the chance to join the Power Academy  to become an engineer of the future.

The IET Power Academy is a scholarship programme designed to enable you to gain invaluable industry experience to complement your engineering degree. The programme gives us the opportunity to get to know you, and for you to get to know our business. If you are studying for an IET accredited electrical, electronic or control systems degree or masters at any of the following universities, you may be eligible to apply for a Power Academy scholarship:

Loughborough, Southampton, Manchester, Imperial College London, Strathclyde, Cardiff, Bath, Queens (Belfast), and Newcastle.

Our scholarship programme is one of the pillars of our entry programme’s recruitment strategy. It provides undergraduates with an understanding of the technical, practical and soft skills needed to be an engineer of the future. Scholars are mentored throughout the programme by experienced power industry professionals, who are able to provide invaluable guidance on the industry, the company and career advice.. The programme is designed to prepare you for application to the RWE Generation UK graduate programme, and complements the graduate’s journey towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.

Programme Outline

Engineers are critical to our power generation business. Over the course of your scholarship, and during each summer of your degree programme, you will undertake a placement at a power station or engineering support centre location. Your contribution will be required on engineering projects in a variety of engineering functions such as during a Power Station Maintenance Shutdown, working with Engineering Support on bespoke design projects or in optimising Power Station Performance.

Upon successful completion of your programme you will be able to apply for a position as a graduate engineer where you will have the opportunity to undertake further placements in our engineering centre of expertise in Swindon, Generation Maintenance and Support Department at Ferrybridge, or at one of our power stations around the country.
