Havish, Working Student Strategy & Digital Transformation

Professional and academic success through flexible working hours

A man in a dark jacket stands against a colourful wall covered in stickers and graffiti.

Havish started as an Enterprise Architecture Manager at RWE in 2023. He works on exciting projects in the Strategy & Digital Transformation department and, as a student, benefits above all from flexible working hours, a supportive team and a wide range of development opportunities. Find out from Havish how you can gain valuable experience as a working student at RWE!

Please introduce yourself: What are you studying, and in which semester are you?

Complex problems need simplest solutions, and it is really possible. Even during the hardest of times, keeping it cool helps anyone find ways for simplicity. I believe in these two sayings, which have brought me and kept me in the position I am in right now. As I have a very long name, I chose the one that is simpler which is Havish. Often it is hard for some people to remember it, but not the conversations we will have. Currently I am a pursuing M.Sc. Renewable Energy Management at TH Koln, I am in my final semester. The next step ahead of me is my Master's Thesis.

When did you join RWE, and in which department/business area?

I have joined RWE on 15th of February in 2023, which has been one of the best onboardings I have ever had compared to my past professional experiences. I am working as an Enterprise Architecture Manager in EFI -S department (Strategy & Digital Transformation). When a non IT experienced person hears my work role for the first time, is it common to have mistaken it as an architect.

Which topics/projects do you work on?

The main tool I have hands on is LeanIX. It is an IT Application Portfolio Management tool, which acts as a main single point of reference for the business to have an overlook at all the IT applications that are used in Renewables. My keen interests are designing processes in BIC Cloud tool and information management & maintenance on Confluence tool. Other than technical aspects, I contribute mostly to IT governance topics and software onboarding concepts.

What is it like working at RWE, and what kind of benefits do you receive?

The working culture at RWE is very relaxed in the sense, you will have enough activities to finish without anyone's pressure. The tasks are often achievable, in case of unforeseen conditions I can seek for advices and buy some time too. My team especially works rigorously without missing some cool conversations now and then. I like working at the campus though I have flexible working conditions, because of the infrastructure provided and the nice coffee zones on every floor. When I am having a hard day of work because of complex working topics, the canteen has the best catering undoubtedly to fuel my thinking.

Do you have any advice for someone who would like to join RWE as an intern or working student?

If you would like to work at RWE as a working student or as an intern, I highly recommend it. You will have flexible working hours, which means you will excel both professionally and academically. No other organization has such employee friendly conditions and I'm glad I have been working here for almost 1 year and 9 months. There are always some fun events happening, you only have to look for them and make connections with other students. The possibility for networking is huge, so I suggest everyone to learn skills outside of the working team too. Finally, you are paid very well and as a student you will support yourself well, which is a great motivator for me. I wish all the new applicants good luck!
