The island Rügen doesn't only offer wonderful beaches and good surf spots. It's also where Arkona is located, our biggest Offshore wind park in Germany. But, the heart of our wind park is the great team on site. Even our new Plant Manager, Reemt, is excited about #TEAMRWE's team spirit and can't wait to use his free time to go for a run along the coast of Rügen.
What is your function/role at RWE?
"I am the General Manager of the Arkona Offshore Windfarm, meaning I'm responsible for the safety, technicial and financial performance of the windfarm. In essence, it seeks to ensure that no one gets hurt while maintaining and operating the wind farm, allowing us to maximise efficiency whilst simultaneously working within the scope of valid regulations and permits.“
What are you looking forward to in your new position?
"Definitely the team, I am very fortunate to become part of a team that is not only very skilled in what they do, but who also have a solid connection to the site and their colleagues. I see this spirit as the key driving force for the excellent performance of the wind farm. One technician on site proudly mentioned that, so far, every turbine he has worked on was rotating after he left it. That's a great attitude to have on site.“
You just moved to the island of Rügen, a popular travel destination. What are your favourite Spots?
"Indeed! Sadly so far I have only managed to travel between the operations building and the bakery, but I'm passionate about all things watersports and Rügen is supposed to be a watersports paradise. I am really looking forward to exploring the island more with my familiy and going for a run along the coastline.“
