After the end of power generation, the Gundremmingen site faces a new task: dismantling the plant. Like the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant, its dismantling is a project that must be examined, approved and monitored by the authorities in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act. The licensing authority for the dismantling of the Gundremmingen nuclear power plant is the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection.
