Gender equality

The energy sector transition is neither female nor male and concerns all of us.

Katja van Doren, CHRO of RWE AG

This is why we are committed to constantly evolving and always improving by promoting equality between men and women at all levels. We are strengthening the share of women in management and aiming for 30% in our core business by 2030.

“As a People Manager I love to stand out by being different, and I am happy to work in an environment that appreciates this. Disrupting with different views and experiences and allowing diversity in our teams is our key to success. Diversity is part of our DNA and I am proud to be a member of our diverse #TeamRWE!”

O&M Implementation Manager at RWE Offshore Wind

I came to the professional world in wind energy and for a very long time I didn’t know if I wanted to be a career-woman in high heels, or a site engineer in a hardhat. It has taken some time, but it turns out that I can be both! Depending on the day, I can lean into whichever side depending on the skillset the tasks of that day require. At RWE I am free to break the stereotypes around what it is like to be feminine in a male-dominated industry, and that helps me connect to and support team members in all parts of our business—from a site-based team to CEO.

Mechatronics engineer at RWE Power

“I am often the only woman among my male colleagues, so naturally I stand out sometimes. However, that doesn’t change the working atmosphere for me. Our team is respectful and open. It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, we’re all equal and nobody is excluded!”

Gender Pay Gap @ RWE

For us, both performance and people count. That is why we build our compensation on fair principles and take individual employee contributions into account when they contribute to our goals and values.

By signing the UN Women's Empowerment Principles (WEP), our CEO Markus Krebber made an important statement for RWE: it demonstrates RWE’s continued dedication to the issue of gender equality and its importance to our company. Gender equality is a central pillar of our company’s inclusive culture. With this signature, RWE is reaffirming its efforts to enable women to succeed.
