RWE Trading Services is a subsidiary of RWE Supply & Trading through which we offer additional energy-related financial services such as brokerage, investment counselling and acquisition services. This is a way of protecting against the risks associated with physical purchase contracts by using innovative financial market products, for instance.

Implementation of the EU Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) created a Europe-wide legal framework for trading of financial instruments. This Directive also includes commodity derivatives for the first time, which had previously only been covered by sporadic supervisory regulations in the individual Member States.

Commodity derivatives with stipulated physical delivery may also be affected by the regulations. Having established RWE Trading Services means that we are prepared: if individual trading transactions are examined by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and are thus subject to authorisation, RWE Trading Services satisfies all of the requirements under bank supervisory law.

All important financial services and banking transactions involved in energy trading can be carried out by RWE Trading Services. This includes investment counselling and brokerage, acquisition mediation, financial portfolio management, trading and financial consignment business.
